Well the lambs are now growing well & can be seen these warm evenings, bouncing about the fields in large mobs!  We will soon be clipping their mothers' fleece to keep them cool over the summer.  The grass is still growing so no hay timing just yet.

July brings the local 'Shows' all over the county so look out for those on the links below.  They are a lovely day out for all with farm animals to see, races & competitions to watch, local crafts, good local food, & activities for the young ones (or young at heart!).  The Shows continue on into September ending with the Westmorland County Show held just outside of Kendal, a huge one day event well worth attending.

Having looked through the Cumbria Life magazine I see that there are

some great art & craft exhibitions to be seen around the county in the many excellent galleries.  One of my favourites is The Up Front Gallery near Hutton in the Forest, Penrith. You can also buy excellent local crafts & enjoy a delicious lunch or afternoon tea!

Exciting new developments can be found at the Staveley Mill Yard, where you will find the famous Wilfs cafe & Wheelbase, also new galleries & shops.

Cumbria has much to offer in the way of crafts & local food - don't just walk, eat your way around Lakeland!  We have so much fantastic, fresh, homemade & preserved produce which can easily be found in every area - farm shops, local shops & farmers markets, & also centres such as Rheged near Penrith & Artisan shop & Restaurant at Booths supermarket in Kendal.
